DESCRIPTION:Accompany Chichester Tree Wardens on a walk through Litten Gardens to enjoy and learn about its trees. Meet at Friends Meeting House\, Priory Road and return there for refreshments and conversation. \nApprox 1 hour walk\, plus social. Sponsored by Chichester Quakers. \nLitten Gardens is just outside the City Walls\, a short walk from our sponsors for this event\, Chichester Quakers at the Friends Meeting House. We will look at the trees chosen to contribute to the setting of the War Memorial\, how they’re growing and the impact they have (for people and wildlife alike). \nFriends Meeting House: Open from 6pm. Afterwards\, if you wish\, we’ll return to FMH for conversation\, hot/soft drinks and nibbles. We anticipate returning to FMH circa 7.15pm. \n

SUMMARY:Event SW21: A Tree Odyssey with Jon Stokes
DESCRIPTION:Jon Stokes set out to describe and celebrate all of Britain and Ireland’s native trees and shrubs\, but first he had to find them! The Tree Council’s Director of Trees\, Science and Research takes us on his journey with this illustrated talk. Hosted by Chichester Tree Wardens. \nJon is one of Britain’s leading tree conservationists and has been studying the world of trees for over thirty years. He’s also an entertaining speaker with a photographer’s eye\, able to bring to life his constant curiosity and love for trees. \nChichester Tree Wardens volunteer as part of the national Tree Warden scheme\, founded in 1990 by The Tree Council. We aim to harness our own love for trees to inspire interest\, understanding\, and care for trees in our city and surrounds. \nWe hope you will join us for Jon’s talk (about an hour\, with questions and answers)\, refreshments\, conversation\, and\, conditions permitting\, the chance to get outdoors and look at nearby trees. \nRefreshments included. Copies of Jon’s latest book\, the WILDGUIDES Trees of Britain and Ireland\, will be available to buy at a discounted price. (Read Jon’s author interview).
