Martin Smith – The Lyrical Euphonium returns to the Festival of Chichester showcasing his award-winning debut album, recently featured on BBC Radio 3 and BBC Radio 4 and well over three quarters of a million streams on Spotify. This recital with the excellent pianist, Rachel Fryer accompanying him will include works by Hummel, Vaughan Williams and Cecilia McDowall and is raising much needed funds for the Cat and Rabbit Rescue, Sidlesham.
Martin has performed to packed houses in major concert halls in the UK and abroad including St Martin-in-the-Fields, St David’s Hall Cardiff and as far north as the Old Town Hall, Lerwick. He prides himself on delivering programmes that appeal to all and demonstrates the sumptuous and lyrical sound of the euphonium in classical arrangements, original works and even popular show tunes that might have a cat theme!
You can be assured of good night out as Martin will guide you through you the musical content that include the works above as well as works by Sarasate, Wilby’s plate smashing Greek dance Zeibekikos, Weber and Sondheim’s Send in the Clowns and Schonberg’s I Dreamed a Dream from Les Miserables.
