Local, contemporary sculptor Helen Solly is exhibiting her unique handmade sculptures throughout Denmans Garden. Helen graduated from Chichester University with a first-class degree in fine art with sculpture, and she was inspired to create these metal sculptures after walking around the tranquil, contemporary series of diverse spaces at Denmans.
Chichester based Sculptor Helen Solly creates three dimensional, animated, flowing forms through the physical manipulation of metal, burnishing the surface to give different reflective qualities. Helen manipulates sheet metal to create flowing forms from this resistant material.
She cuts, bends and folds steel and stainless-steel and is inspired by nature and the sea in beautiful West Sussex.
In this exhibition, the visitor is invited to wander through Grade II registered Denmans Garden and explore the sculptures in situ. Comprised of a diverse series of spaces connected by curving paths of gravel and mown lawn through rough grass, Denmans represents where horticulture diversity meets design excellence.
Renowned for its curvilinear layout and complex plantings, along with its gravel gardens, dry riverbeds, walled garden and pond, it provides a unique and complementary backdrop to Helen Solly’s work.
