Event A4: SKETCHING CHICHESTER: A DRAWING WALK WITH PALLANT HOUSE GALLERY

Join us for an engaging day of observational drawing, guided tour, and shared stories led by artist Helen Friend. Unlock your artistic potential and immerse yourself in the vibrant cityscape of Chichester, blending creativity with history.

Our day begins at the historic Pallant House Gallery, here artist Helen Friend will provide a brief overview of the morning, followed by a warm-up sketching activity to get creative juices flowing. We will then give you an overview of the mapped out route, and let you know what to expect along the way.

We will provide you with a small portable kit of equipment to take along with you on the walk, include a sketchbook and a bundle of pens and pencils.

Our drawing walk begins outside the 18th century Queen Anne townhouse which then became Pallant House Gallery, from here Helen will guide you to notable landmarks and scenic spots in Chichester, sharing brief historical insights or interesting anecdotes to inform your sketches.

Along the way, at each stop, there will be an opportunity to create a variety of sketches, from architectural detail to landscapes and people. Here Helen will instruct and encourage you to consider new angles and perspectives that may enhance your work.

We will then return to Pallant House Gallery to gather and discuss the experience and share sketches.
