Delight in a 50-minute daytime concert at Pallant House Gallery as pianist Elena Toponogova takes you on a musical journey. The program seamlessly intertwines Sussex’s musical heritage with timeless classics, offering a harmonious blend of regional and universal melodies for a captivating midday musical experience.

Explore the regional roots with Frank Bridge’s Three Sketches and A Fairy Tale and Arnold Bax’s O Dame get up and bake your pies reflecting their ties to Sussex. Sergei Bortkiewicz’s emotive pieces The Angel and The Clock offer a glimpse into his captivating compositions. Sergei Rachmaninov’s Two Musical Moments and P.I. Tchaikovsky’s Intermezzo from the Nutcracker Suite complete this diverse and enchanting musical experience.

Elena is a graduate of the Royal College of Music and a prize-winner in international competitions in Italy, France and the US. Elena is a concert pianist and chamber musician based in London. Her repertoire is primarily comprised of Russian music, with a particular focus on the music of Nikolai Medtner. She recently won the prize for the best performance of a Prelude and Fugue by J S Bach of the Nuova Coppa International Piano Competition, Italy.
