Event SW11: POETRY & JAZZ CAFE

Acclaimed poets Maura Dooley and Jeremy Page link with Mike Carey’s Big House Jazz Band to entertain and inspire. There’s also the launch of Poetry & All That Jazz magazine with South Downs poets. Enjoy a delightful mix of words and music with complimentary homemade cake.

Based in Arundel and well-known through Sussex and the South, the Big House Jazz Band will be featuring classic jazz by Count Basie and Duke Ellington plus original tunes.

Award winning poet Maura Dooley has published several poetry collections with Bloodaxe, most recently Five Fifty-Five (2023). Sheis a Fellow of the Royal Society of Literature and Professor of Creative Writing at Goldsmiths, University of London.

Jeremy Page, founding editor of The Frogmore Papers, will read from his new book, The Naming. He has published several collections of poems, among them In and Out of the Dark Wood and Closing Time. His novella London Calling was published by Cultured Llama in 2018.
