Public policy discourse has been dominated by the views of the central banks. In this talk, Professor Werner of the University of Oxford and the University of Winchester explores the central bank narrative and answers questions such as: Can central banks really control the economy by varying interest rates? Why did gold rise to a new all-time high? What are the reasons behind: China’s 4 decade-long 15% growth; our recurring banking crises; major inflation; the UK’s low productivity and the City’s accumulation of a disproportionate part of UK national income.
