Event SW12: Small ship, rivers and expedition cruising

June 28th at 14:00 - July 4th at 15:30

Broadcaster, tour leader and travel expert Roger Mallock is author of CruiseMaster, the definitive British guidebook for explaining the pros and cons of taking holiday cruises. His highly practical 60-minute talk/Q&A focuses on small-ship cruising experiences including polar, tropical and river options and how to select a trip that suits you.

This talk (which will take place twice during the festival) will introduce you to smaller ships and a more personal onboard experience. Find out the many itinerary options in warm and cold climates and learn why this niche sector of travel is growing very rapidly.

If you have ever wanted to ask questions this will be the perfect opportunity for you to do so with a selection of companies joining on the day.

In this 60-minute talk followed by your questions and answers Roger and is team will let you know the many benefits of cruising on small ships, the personal service, the space, the itineraries, the experts onboard, the travel culture where you can be one with nature.

There are an increasing number of small ship cruises around Great Britain, always popular as this is a wonderful way to reach smaller ports. Depending on how far you may wish to travel, the Arctic and North Cape are ever popular as are special themed expedition cruises too. Expedition Cruises with names including Lindblad Expeditions, Star Clippers ,Ponant, Oceania, Hurtigruten and many others can literally take you to some of the stunning tropical and polar corners of the earth. There is something for everyone, whether a novice or long time cruise guest looking for something as little different.

River cruises are also included in this presentation as these are an excellent way to travel established itineraries and to sail into the very heart of the city. For example Avignon in France on a Rhone Cruise, Vienna on the Danube or Oporto on the river Douro. There are an increasing number of options both in Europe and beyond with special themed cruises available too.

Saturday June 28, 2.30pm & Friday July 4, 6pm.
Free. Booking advised via the Novium or the Fred. Olsen shop.
